Far Infrared Sauna Heaters
Our Sun Spirit saunas use a ceramic heater core coated with incoloy. Incoloy is a metal alloy that is very effective in
high temperature applications. The incoloy coating is added to our far infrared sauna heaters to ensure the heat is
evenly distributed. It also ensures a consistent far infrared wavelength.
The large reflecting panels placed behind our sauna heaters are designed to reflect the far infrared rays emitted to
the front, sides, ceiling and floor. With a minimum of 5 far infrared sauna heaters strategically place throughout the
sauna, the far infrared rays are evenly distributed providing maximum coverage. The reflective backs on the sauna
heaters also minimize any energy loss through the back of the sauna.
Our ceramic elements are specially processed to emit far infrared rays at the most beneficial level to the human
body. To get real benefit from an infrared sauna heater, it must emit far infrared rays evenly with a wavelength
greater than 5.6 microns. Our new U-Type heaters have a minimum wavelength of 6 TO 7 microns which puts us
well into the far infrared range.
An industry standard Infrared Heat Calculation Formula is used to calculate the wavelength or infrared emission for
infrared sauna heaters.
The formula is:
Infrared Emission (IE) = 5269/ (HEATER FACE TEMP + 460)
5269 and 460 are constant numbers. The only variable in this formula is the heater face temperature.
Because the far infrared wavelength is between 5.6 and 1000 microns, in order for infrared sauna heaters to emit
far infrared rays, the heater face temperature must be a maximum of 480.89 ºF.
Test results, conducted by our R&D department, show that the average heater surface temperature of our
U-Type far infrared sauna heaters is 370.88 ºF, and the minimum IE value is 6.34. This is proof that our
sauna heaters do indeed emit far infrared rays.
Manufacturer for Our Far Infrared Electric Sauna Heaters
After much research, Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company was selected as the manufacturer for our far infrared
electric sauna heaters. With their expertise in designing and developing sophisticated thermal systems for a broad
range of industries, they were an excellent choice to design and manufacturer our electric sauna heaters.
Watlow designs and manufactures industrial heaters, sensors, controllers, system assemblies and software - all of
the components for a thermal system. Designing and manufacturing complete thermal systems allows Watlow to
recommend, develop and deliver optimum thermal solutions based on their customers' unique requirements.
Watlow, with $260 million in annual sales, manufactures thermal systems for a broad range of industries including
but not limited to: semiconductor processing, power generation, life sciences, packaging, foodservice equipment
and plastics processing. Watlow customers receive the highest level of technical engineering combined with
