Question
What does Far Infrared mean?
Answer
Infrared is the band of light we perceive as heat.
We cannot see this band of light with the naked eye, but we can feel this type of light in the form of heat.
Our sun produces most of its energy output in the infrared segment of the spectrum.
Infrared rays heat your body, without having to heat the air in-between, through a process called conversion.
The infrared spectrum is divided into 3 segments by wavelengths and is measured in microns. Only the far infrared penetrates organic substances, such as the human body. Far infrared rays penetrate one and a half to three inches to safely and effectively warm your body.

Question
How does Far Infrared benefit us?
Answer
Because infrared rays penetrate the body over 1½ inches throughout conversion, there is a deep heating effect in the muscle tissues and internal organs. This is accomplished without putting too much stress on our heart.
Our body reacts to the increased heating through the natural cooling process of perspiring. Through the perspiration process, acid and waste residue like toxins, sodium, alcohol, nicotine, cholesterol and the potentially carcinogenic heavy metals are removed from the cells (especially zinc, lead, nickel, cadmium, etc).
As well as the pores of our skin opening and discharging waste products, the skin sheds any old skin cells, leaving it glowing and immaculately clean, with improved tone, elasticity, texture and color.
The deep penetrating heat also stimulates the heart to send more blood to the body cells to increase blood circulation, which improves many ailments.
Over the last 25 years, Japanese and Chinese researchers and clinicians have completed extensive research on infrared treatments and report many provocative findings.
Their findings support the health benefits of infrared therapy as a method of healing.

Question
I have decided to purchase a Far Infrared Portable Sauna. Why should I choose a Sun Spirit Far Infrared Sauna?
Answer
For economy conscious customers, the Sun Spirit Personal Sauna is the perfect choice because of the quality of the product and the company behind it.
Unlike most companies selling far infrared saunas, we deal directly with the manufacturer and our product guarantee is direct from the manufacturer.
Many companies deal with an importer who is importing products from manufacturers overseas. Our manufacturer has been building infrared saunas since 1979, has 29 years in the business and is headquartered in California.
Only the finest quality materials from reputable companies are used in the manufacture of Sun Spirit Saunas. Our heaters are from Watlow of California and our premium wood is North American/Western Hemlock primarily from Canada.
Our manufacturer directly controls the quality of material in the entire process from raw material to finished products.
Buyer Beware: There are companies that import containers of Saunas from overseas, set up internet sites, sell the product at low prices, and then shut the site down. The customer is left with no support, a guarantee that would be hard to fulfill, no proof of liability insurance and no on-going customer service.
Please ensure that you purchase your sauna from a reliable, reputable and stable company.

Question

This is a matter of personal preference. Many people enjoy feeling the increasing warmth as the sauna heats, while others prefer the sauna to already be hot inside when they step into it.

Question
What should I do to keep my Sun Spirit Infrared Portable Sauna clean inside?
Answer
Place towels on the bench and on the floor under the feet to prevent perspiration from staining the raw wood inside the sauna. Periodically wipe down the inside with a warm, damp (not wet) soft cloth, using only warm water. We do not recommend the use of any cleaning agents, as the wood inside can easily absorb stains and odors from these cleaners.

If, after a period of time, there is some staining on the bench or other wood surfaces inside the sauna, it can be easily removed by carefully sanding the affected area with a few strokes of fine-grit sandpaper.

Question
I have read that some saunas are tongue and groove and do not use glue. How can this be – what holds them together?
Answer
Sun Spirit Personal Saunas are tongue and groove construction and you are right, glue is used, otherwise there would be hundreds of nails holding the boards together. If you wish to see these details please e-mail a request and we will respond personally.

Question
Is it possible to inhale what your body is detoxifying?
Answer
No, not with Far Infrared Heat Therapy, toxins are trapped within your perspiration. During a Far Infrared Sauna session you will be toweling off perspiration and the toxins with it. The air in a Sun Spirit portable Far Infrared Sauna does not get hot enough to convert the toxins, trapped in your perspiration, into a gas that can be inhaled.
