How To Use a Thermotex Far Infrared Horse TMJ Hood Therapy System




The Thermotex far infrared horse TMJ hood is a very effective alternative equine therapy for treating temporomandibular joint dysfunction.

For the proper use of your horse TMJ hood, please carefully follow the instruction guidelines below.

Step by Step Instruction Guidelines:

  1. Place the animal in cross ties to secure it.
  2. Before using the horse TMJ hood, brush away any dirt from the head and loosen the halter one or two notches.
  3. Plug in the TMJ hood and turn the setting to high for a few minutes. This will pre-warm the appliance before placing it on the animal.
  4. Fasten the horse TMJ hood comfortably on the animal’s head using the Velcro Straps.
  5. For the first 10 minutes of therapy, turn the TMJ hood on the high setting.
  6. Turn the heat to the low setting after the initial ten minutes and maintain this setting until the therapy session is complete.
  7. At the end of the therapy session, disinfect the inside of the horse TMJ Hood and allow it to dry before storing it in a clean dry place.

Important Safety Instructions

  • NEVER use the horse TMJ hood with any liniment, salve or ointment.
  • DO NOT leave TMJ hood unattended when plugged in and check hide under appliance frequently.
  • DO NOT immerse TMJ hood in water unless all electrical pads and the cord have been removed.
  • DO NOT hold the horse TMJ hood in place with pins or other metallic objects.
  • NEVER use pads unless the outer cover is in place.
  • PERIODICALLY examine the inner cover (white PVC) to make sure it is still in good shape. If inner covering shows any sign of deterioration, return device for repair.
  • DO NOT bend or fold the heating element in the TMJ hood.
  • DO NOT pull the horse TMJ hood cord or use it as a handle.

One Year Limited Warranty

WARRANTY: The Company warrants this product, to the original purchaser or gift recipient, to be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service, for a period of one year from the date of purchase.
LIMITATIONS: ALL WARRANTIES IMPLIED BY STATE OR PROVINCIAL LAW, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE EXPRESSLY LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THE LIMITED WARRANTIES SET FORTH ABOVE. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, LOSS OF PROFIT OR MEDICAL EXPENSES CAUSED BY ANY DEFECT, FAILURE, MISUSE, OR MALFUNCTION OF THE PRODUCT.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. The Company will not be responsible for damages or losses, direct or indirect, caused by misuse, abuse, accident, negligence, conditions of transportation or storage, or failure to follow instruction. The Company will not be responsible for any statements that are made or published, written or oral, that are inconsistent with this written warranty, or which are misleading or inconsistent with the facts as published in the literature or specifications furnished by the Company. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

Warranty Claim Procedure: Any product that proves defective within the warranty period will, transportation charges pre-paid, be repaired or replaced at the option of the Company, free of charge.
