The Importance of Body Detoxification
Detoxification is a treatment for removing harmful toxins from our bodies. This method of healing has been around for thousands of years and is widely used in alternative medicine.
We live in a very toxic world. Modern science has created an abundance of drugs, medications, preservatives and processed foods that are very toxic to our bodies when consumed. Our manufacturing processes also create many by-products that are harmful to our bodies as well as the environment. Creams, lotions, shampoos and conditioners designed to help keep us young and beautiful are absorbed by our skin and add to our toxicity.
As more and more of these man made toxins are consumed and absorbed, our body’s own natural detoxification systems get over loaded and can no longer keep up with the demand. Toxins start to build up and accumulate in the cells, tissue, muscles and organs throughout our body. As the accumulation of toxins continues to increase, our body systems start to malfunction. The end result is conditions such as premature aging, skin disorders including acne, hormone imbalances, anxiety, headaches, emotional disorders, heart disease, arthritis, Alzheimer’s, chronic fatigue, cancers and auto-immune diseases, just to name a few.
Detoxification therapies are increasing in popularity. Some proven therapies include fasting, chelation therapy, massage therapy, acupressure, shiatsu, manual lymph drainage, and polarity therapy.
Sweating is another very successful detoxification therapy. Saunas and exercise are two sweating therapies that detoxify the body through the skin.
A far infrared sauna is especially effective as a total body detoxification therapy and is up to three times more effective than a regular sauna. Far infrared rays penetrate the body from 1.5 to 3 inches causing a deep heating effect in the muscle tissues, internal organs and cells. Water and fat cells that hold the toxins break up. Toxins are released from the cells and are removed from the body through perspiration, urine and feces.
With any detoxification process you may experience some side effects as part of the healing process. These side affects may include flu or cold like symptoms, headaches, fatigue… These side effects are caused by a temporary increase in toxin levels due to the elimination and cleansing process and will disappear once the body detoxification is complete.
Although detoxification is not widely accepted in western medicine, it is an essential and very popular treatment for many illnesses and chronic conditions in the alternative medical community. Don’t wait until it is too late. Watch for the many symptoms that your body may need help and start a detox program today.
